What causes skin cancer?

Skin cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer that people usually ignore. Though it is most immune to fair-skinned people, all skin types need to be wary of this evil tumor. One of the main causes of skin cancer is the direct ultraviolet radiation coming from the sun that blocks the development in the outermost layer of the skin, known as Epidermis. Other causes may include family history of skin cancer, multiple moles, exposure to arsenic compounds and radium, and scorching sunburn as a child.

Skin cancer damages your cells and multiplies at a very fast rate that ultimately leads to the formation of a tumor. This poisonous tumor starts to spread in three different cells giving the notion of three types of skin cancers mentioned as under:

Melanoma: A less common form of cancer, but at the same time it is equally deadliest. It usually starts to spread in melanocytes cells and subsequently, adversely affects our internal organs and proves fatal. The only hope of survival is that if the tumor is detected early, then you stand a very good chance of recovery.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma: The most common symptoms of this type of cancer find its place in the hands, lower lips, and the forehead. Usually identified as a red ulceration of the skin which does not heal, if left undiagnosed in the earlier stage may cost you your life. Continued exposures to arsenic, heat or X-rays are some of the main factors responsible for Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Basal Cell Carcinoma: The most widespread and feared form of skin cancer, Basal Cell Carcinoma is caused by excessive sun exposure and spreads along the skin affecting with the cancer. It gets identified as a small bump with partially coloured appearance. Therapeutic radiations are also a potent cause. Fair skinned people are at huge risk of developing this form of cancer.

As it is highly suggested that prevention is better than cure, you need to check yourself while exposing yourself to the sun. Also make sure to wear caps and cotton clothes for effective escape from the harmful ultraviolet radiations. Choose for waterproof sunscreen cream with feature like 30+SPF. And most importantly, visit your doctor on a regular basis to check any undetermined symptoms of skin cancer.

What causes breast cancer ?

Breast cancer is a widely spoken about term today.People all around the globe are aware of the dangers of this phenomenon, and all sorts of talks, deliberations, cures, sources are always important topics to focus on.Cancer of the breast is referred to as breast cancer, and it is applicable to women in majority cases and also to men in a few instances. The occurance starts as a breast tumor which is potentially not harmful, which lying dormant if unattended to thereby spreads it’s cells to other body parts. This results in cancerous growth and has to checked with immedaitely or else can prove to be vitally dangerous.

Breast cancer is one of most common diseases in women, and recent studies have engineered huge detection centres and subsequent remedial solutions to combat this disease. If detected at an early stage, breast cancer can be nipped off in the bud easily without much complications.Breast cancer is usually of diffferent typers based on it’s stage of growth, namely invasive cancer,non-invasive ones where the tumor is yet to form into dangerous lumps and also potentially rare forms.Though the exact reasons for the disease remain yet unknown, science has come up with varoius risk factors associated with the same.

These factors include a person’s age, family or personal history of breast cancer, hormones and alcohol consumption, gene combinations, exposure to radaition and other such associated factors.Breast cancer is unlikely to occur in younger women, with elder ones after a particular age succumbing more to the disease. Also those with a previous record of having had breast cancer once and those with other women in their families having suffred from the same, stand a higher chance to have the disease more easily than others.Heredity plays a big role in some cases, with the cancerous cell or oncogen being directly transferred through generations. The female hormone estrogen has a big part to play, with women having a history of early periods, contraceptive pills, late pregnanices, late menopause being highly susceptible to breast cancer.Regular exercise and shedding of body fat can serve as protective factors in this case.

Daily consumtion of alcohol increases chances for breast cancer along with abnormal development of the breast tissue during menstrual cycles in some.Exposure to radiation or x-rays during early stages of life and unhealthy eating habits with excess consumption of body fat are also reasons for common occurances.Other factors include incresed cigarette smoking, increased abortion or miscarriage history, exposure to environmental hazards, excess body weight and so on.Breast cancer is controllable in women with mesaures such as early preganncy, regular exercising and also breast feeding for babies.

If detected at a tumor stage earlier and followed up with proper medical care, treatments for breast cancer ensures that the person lives a healthier and longer life,if not in many cases, being completely cancer free.Surgery and chemotherapy are most sought after options, depending on the patient’s body type and medical history.

What Causes Skin Cancer ?

Skin Cancer is seems small, but it is the most common form of human cancer, which can prove fatal if not detected on time. It usually develops in the outermost layer of the skin, called the Epidermis. The cancer develops when DNA is damaged beyond repair and then the dameged cells , grow and divide at a very fast rate and spread the cancer to other skin surfaces. These damaged cells then multiply at a very fast rate, which results in a Tumor. This skin cancer tumor is generally very visible, thus making it easier to detect it in the early stages. Thus the most common symptoms are : change in the appearance of skin, a new growth , or a sore wound which does not heal.

There are 3 types of skin cancer which starts in 3 different skin cells:

1. Basal Cell Carcinoma : This is the most common form of skin cancer, and almost 80% of skin cancer patients suffer from this type. This develops in the basal cells, which are present in the lowest layer of the epidermis. This appears mostly on the maximum sun-exposed areas like: face, nose, head, ears, chest and neck. This cancer doesnt spread to other body parts, but can damage the surrounding tissues. People who have fair skin and are older have higher rates of basal cell carcinoma. It looks like a pink, shiny or translucent bump.

Factors which causes this skin cancer are:

SUN-EXPOSURE: Exposure to Sun and UV rays, especially on holidays and vaccations in early age, or living in areas which receive high levels of UV radiation or in tanning booths, promotes this cancer.

AGE: Most of the patients develope Basal Skin Cancer after 50yrs, though the damage starts in early age.

THERAPEUTIC RADIATION: exposure to radiations given in various treatments can also be a cause.

To prevent it, you should restrict exposure to sun, specially during peak hours, wear caps and cotton clothes and regularly use waterproof sunscreen with 30+ SPF and by regular check-ups.

2. SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA: This cancer occurs in the squamous cells, which are present in the upper layer of the epidermis. People with fair skin and middle or older age are more likely to develope it. This cancer can spread, so it should be diagnosed in early stage. It looks like red, scaly and inflamed bump or a tumor, which doesnt heal.

Factors:

SUN-EXPOSURE: Sun damaged parts like: forehead, cheeks and back of hands, can develope it.

OTHERS: Exposure to arsenic, heat or X-rays.

3. MELANOMA: This is the deadliest form of skin cancer, and it begins in melanocytos cells, which are present in the skin ang are responsible for giving the skin its colour. It rapidly spreads to the internal organs and is fatal. But if caught on time there are 95% chances of it being cured. Its hard to detect as its appearance is that of a new mole.

Due to the changing lifestyle and the global environment in which the human species sustains it is not just the social front at which the progress and development has taken place. As all the facets have advanced and modernized in their concept, so has the facet of diseases and disorders also. One of the most severe being Cancer that is crippling the human society as the number of cancer patients are drastically increasing all over the world and that is what calls for a greater awareness with respect to cancer so that some careful measures in terms of the routine health can possibly eliminate any chances that any individual stands for getting entrapped in the harmful clutches of Cancer.

Cancer is prevalent in the human society in many forms; one of the ugly faces of this disease being that of Colon cancer. Colon cancer is also known as colorectal cancer or large bowel cancer and this cancer features growth of cancerous tissue in the internal organs of colon, appendix and rectum. These organs comprise of the digestive system of the human body. This cancer has taken so many lives till date due to the severity of its harmful and adverse effect that it is accounted as the third most widespread and generic form of cancer. Not only this Colon cancer is also the second most leading cause due to which most of the cancer related deaths are observed all over the world. If someone makes an effort to understand that causes of Colon cancer then there are various factors that can be attributed to the birth of this disease. Some of the main ones are as follows:

Age factor is one of the biggest reasons behind the Colon cancer because the risk of developing this cancer increases with the growing age.

Polyps found in Colon can also give birth to cancer in colon and that is why if during colonoscopy, colon polyps are detected and found then they should be removed at that time itself to eliminate any future possibility of Colon Cancer.

Females who have had ovarian cancer, cancer of uterus or breast also run a high risk of becoming the victim of colon cancer.

Family history wherein some member has been patient of Colon cancer is also a significant and possible reason.

Consumption of alcohol and smoking habits are one of the very strong factors that lead to colon cancer at times and that is why it is advisable to avoid such habits to prevent the risk of colon cancer under certain circumstances.

Some of the other contributory factors account for diet high in red meat and short of fresh fruit, vegetables, poultry and fish amplifies the risk of colorectal cancer. Apart from this physical inactivity, provocative bowel disease, low levels of selenium, exogenous hormones and certain viruses and environmental factors are other causative factors.

What causes Cancer

Cancer, a disease that is second only to cardiovascular disease is the world’s most life taking disease. Today, most number of deaths in the Western World is because of cancer. Normally, at the age of 65 a person is striked to death due to this disease but, it can strike youngest of children as well.

The disease is caused when a group of cells display uncontrolled growth i.e beyond the normal limits. The growth of the cells in the body is out of control and it divides too rapidly. The cancer can mostly develop in any organ or tissue, such as lung, colon, breast, skin, bones or nerve tissue as well. Cancer mostly strikes prostrate, breast and lungs. Cancer has no specific symptoms, so it is important for each and everyone to undergo appropriate cancer screening and minimise the risk of it. The symptoms depend upon the size of the cancer, where it is present or how is it affecting the nearby organs. It can spread to various parts of the body if, it grows. Whereas, if a cancer is in sensitive parts of the body like brain then, it can cause early symptoms.

The major causes of cancer is believed to a combination of genetic factors and outside carcinogens like tobacco, viruses, infection, vinyl chloride and inappropriate diet.

Lung cancer can be caused if a person smokes a lot. 87 percent of people gets lung cancer because of smoking. A person who smokes a pack everyday, has twenty times more risk of getting lung cancer then a non – smoker. Because of the carcinogens present in tobacco, the risk of lungs getting damaged is more.

Whereas, other cancers like Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. Breast cancer can be caused in a women because of several factors like family history, personal history (if a women contracted a disease in her breast), high processed meat products consumption, absence or lack of physical activities and by consuming products containing Aluminium salts.

Another, type of cancer is skin cancer. This cancer forms in the tissues of the skin and its main cause is the ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. UV is invisible and causes sun burn and sun tan that may result in cancer. Various other reason from which cancer can be caused are solariums, UV lamps, heredity, living at a place that is near to equator. This cancer can be treated by various therapies like Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy.

Colon cancer is another form of cancer that occurs in the colon. Two third of such cancers occur in the colon whereas, one third of such cancers occur in rectum. The symptom of such cancer can be regular constipation, abdominal pain, blood in your stool or minor tears in your anus.

Various other cancer areas can be bladder, kidney, cervical, liver, mouth, rectal, vagina, vulvar, saliva, appendix, brain, etc..

One should consult oncologists for treating various cancers as they use various drugs and therapies to prevent the disease.
