What causes Cancer

Cancer, a disease that is second only to cardiovascular disease is the world’s most life taking disease. Today, most number of deaths in the Western World is because of cancer. Normally, at the age of 65 a person is striked to death due to this disease but, it can strike youngest of children as well.

The disease is caused when a group of cells display uncontrolled growth i.e beyond the normal limits. The growth of the cells in the body is out of control and it divides too rapidly. The cancer can mostly develop in any organ or tissue, such as lung, colon, breast, skin, bones or nerve tissue as well. Cancer mostly strikes prostrate, breast and lungs. Cancer has no specific symptoms, so it is important for each and everyone to undergo appropriate cancer screening and minimise the risk of it. The symptoms depend upon the size of the cancer, where it is present or how is it affecting the nearby organs. It can spread to various parts of the body if, it grows. Whereas, if a cancer is in sensitive parts of the body like brain then, it can cause early symptoms.

The major causes of cancer is believed to a combination of genetic factors and outside carcinogens like tobacco, viruses, infection, vinyl chloride and inappropriate diet.

Lung cancer can be caused if a person smokes a lot. 87 percent of people gets lung cancer because of smoking. A person who smokes a pack everyday, has twenty times more risk of getting lung cancer then a non – smoker. Because of the carcinogens present in tobacco, the risk of lungs getting damaged is more.

Whereas, other cancers like Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. Breast cancer can be caused in a women because of several factors like family history, personal history (if a women contracted a disease in her breast), high processed meat products consumption, absence or lack of physical activities and by consuming products containing Aluminium salts.

Another, type of cancer is skin cancer. This cancer forms in the tissues of the skin and its main cause is the ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. UV is invisible and causes sun burn and sun tan that may result in cancer. Various other reason from which cancer can be caused are solariums, UV lamps, heredity, living at a place that is near to equator. This cancer can be treated by various therapies like Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy.

Colon cancer is another form of cancer that occurs in the colon. Two third of such cancers occur in the colon whereas, one third of such cancers occur in rectum. The symptom of such cancer can be regular constipation, abdominal pain, blood in your stool or minor tears in your anus.

Various other cancer areas can be bladder, kidney, cervical, liver, mouth, rectal, vagina, vulvar, saliva, appendix, brain, etc..

One should consult oncologists for treating  various cancers as they use various drugs and therapies to prevent the disease.
